Foodbank NSW & ACT plays a critical role in supporting local community groups, charities and schools by ensuring they have access to a basic need – food supplies.

These organisations, in turn, distribute food to vulnerable individuals and families, helping to alleviate food insecurity in areas that need it most.

Keno is proud to announce a $200,000 contribution today from the Keno-ACT Community Fund to Foodbank NSW & ACT which will allow the team to continue collecting surplus food from local suppliers and redistribute it to community partners across the ACT.

Keno's initial funding in 2023 helped launch Foodbank's first Food Rescue Program in the ACT, which included the placement of a dedicated chilled van and the appointment of a local team member, ensuring that food could be rescued, transported and distributed to those in need.

“Keno’s ongoing commitment to Foodbank NSW & ACT ensures that essential food relief supplies are transported to local food pantries within the ACT and plays a crucial role in fostering a stronger sense of community, which is an incredible role to play,” our Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson said.

Foodbank NSW & ACT CEO John Robertson said Keno’s continued support and ongoing commitment to fighting hunger and supporting ACT communities made a huge difference.

“With this second year of funding, our Food Rescue Program will make more food available to those who need it most across the region, a vital step in our mission to ensure no one goes hungry,” he said.
