One in five people will experience a mental illness each year.

LIVIN – The Lott’s newest community partner – is on a mission to break the silence around mental health and spark conversations by encouraging people to speak up and share what they’re going through.

Through early education and awareness programs, the charity promotes preventative action and mental wellbeing for all, spreading the message that ‘it ain’t weak to speak’.

LIVIN was founded in 2013 in memory of Dwayne Lally, who like many people, lived in silence because of the stigma around mental health, and sadly took his own life.

Today we proudly contribute $100,000 from The Lott by Golden Casket unclaimed prize money to LIVIN to fund more programs in high schools.

“LIVIN has grown into a formidable and much-needed force in Australia’s mental health landscape,” our Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson said.

“Young people don’t just need support and resources; they need a culture where it’s normal and accepted to seek help.

“This $100,000 donation will help LIVIN directly deliver that message to thousands of Australians through their education and awareness initiatives.”

LIVIN co-founder and CEO Casey Lyons thanked the generosity of the community and other organisations to allow LIVIN to deliver on its mission.

“The donation from The Lott allows us to continue our mission to create a future where suicide is no longer the leading cause of death in young Australians,” he said.

“We’re grateful to everyone who’s helped spread our message that ‘it ain’t weak to speak’.”
