Wishing the Queensland Children’s Hospital a very happy birthday!

To mark the Queensland Children’s Hospital’s 10^th birthday today, we’ve given the gift of $1.5 million.   

The Lott by Golden Casket’s contribution consists of $1 million from state lottery taxes to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation’s work providing care and assistance to sick kids and their families, and $500,000 from unclaimed prize money, which will be allocated to the hospital’s Children’s Brain Cancer Centre.

For more than a century, Australia’s official lotteries have supported initiatives that advance the health and wellbeing of sick children and their families across the country.

In 2007, it was proceeds from the sale of Golden Casket to Tattersall’s Limited that provided the initial funding to help build the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. 

Our Chief Customer & Marketing Officer Andrew Shepherd said today’s funding continued a century-long commitment. 
 

“We are incredibly proud that our origins are so deeply rooted in the world-class care that critically sick and injured children receive at Queensland Children’s Hospital each day.” 

In 2019, our funding of $500,000 from Golden Casket unclaimed prize money launched the Children’s Brain Cancer Centre, Australia’s first research initiative solely focused on paediatric brain cancer, treatment and survivorship.

In the past six years, we have contributed $3 million to the Children’s Brain Cancer Centre which unites the brightest paediatric brain cancer researchers from across the country on groundbreaking projects aimed at detecting, monitoring and ultimately halting the growth of brain tumours in children.
