Since 2020, DV Safe Phone has put more than 10,000 phones into the hands of those experiencing domestic violence to empower them to live a safer, connected life.

One phone costs the charity $75 to restore, repair and send to support agencies across Australia including hospitals, police stations and safe houses. From there, the phones provide those in need a tool to enable them to create a new chapter in their lives and give them hope.

Today we proudly donate $50,000 from The Lott to DV Safe Phone which will allow them to support about 670 people in escaping domestic violence. It will also reduce e-waste in landfill as old phones are repurposed.

“At DV Safe Phone we collect, repurpose and gift mobile phones to victims of domestic violence,” DV Safe Phone founder and CEO Ashton Wood said.

“These 'safe phones' provide a lifeline to call for help when it’s needed most. Our goal is to get a safe phone into the hands of every victim of domestic violence who needs one. With over two million known victims of domestic violence, there’s no doubt we have a goliath challenge on our hands.”

Our Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson added: “We’re so proud to make such an important donation to DV Safe Phone to continue their efforts in delivering the crucial tool – a phone – to victims to empower them to take that first step in being safe.”

DV Safe Phone has 850-plus phone collection points for you to donate old phones. Find your nearest here.
